Jospeh Gedeon at The Guardian:
Mike Johnson’s grip on the House speakership faces a crucial test on Friday, as mounting opposition from within his own Republican party threatens to derail his re-election bid, despite receiving an endorsement from President-elect Donald Trump. With Republicans holding a razor-thin 219-215 majority in the House, Johnson can only afford to lose one vote – a threshold already reached after the Kentucky representative Thomas Massie publicly declared his intention to vote against the incumbent speaker. The 52-year-old Johnson, who ascended to the speakership weeks after the historic ousting of the California Republican Kevin McCarthy last year, finds himself caught between appeasing hardline conservatives and maintaining functional governance. His decisions to work with Democrats across the aisle for billions in Ukraine aid in the spring and on recent short-term government funding in December have simultaneously bothered both the party’s libertarian and right flank. “I don’t know how to say this without cussing,” Massie told reporters when asked about supporting Johnson. “If they thought I had no Fs to give before, I definitely have no Fs to give now.” Johnson had been able to secure and hold on to his position because Democrats backed him following McCarthy’s ouster. But should Johnson fail to secure a majority on the first ballot this time around, the House would again be thrown into a state of paralysis until a speaker is elected, as no other business can proceed without one. The brewing rebellion is holding fast even with Trump’s intervention. Despite offering his “Complete & Total Endorsement” of Johnson on Truth Social on Monday, and describing him as a “good, hard working, religious man”, the backing appears to have done little to cool general dissent among Republican holdouts.
While Trump was able to sway some Republicans, like one-time skeptic Texas representative Troy Nehls, other prominent noncommittal Republicans remain, including the Arizona representative Andy Biggs, Pennsylvania’s Scott Perry and Chip Roy of Texas. The chair of the hard-right House Freedom caucus, Andy Harris of Maryland, and Tennessee representative Tim Burchett are also still undecided, according to Axios. And notably silent is the Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert, who last May reasoned that “it makes no difference to me” who becomes House speaker because, she said, Democrats get their agenda passed in either scenario. The Indiana Republican Victoria Spartz demanded “assurances [Johnson] won’t sell us out to the swamp” in a post on X before pledging her support. The South Carolina Republican Ralph Norman echoed that sentiment, telling Axios a growing number of Republicans were asking for promises on spending cuts.
Tomorrow is the opening day of the 119th session of Congress with a very slim GOP majority, and there will be a Speaker vote before any other business is taken care of.
Incumbent House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), endorsed by Donald Trump, is running for the spot again, but will he get elected on the first go? Or will he go through what former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy went through that took 15 rounds? Or despite Trump’s endorsement, he gets replaced by a different Republican? Stay tuned.
In the wrapped up 118th Congress, it took 15 votes to get a Speaker elected to start the term, in which McCarthy prevailed.

Ch.108 - Trying Again
Previous Chapter - Masterlist 1; Masterlist 2 - Next Chapter
After the ceremony, Simon and Kiera decide to try again for their third child together.
Author's Note: I'm sorry this took forever for me to publish. I hope you all will forgive me after reading this smut-filled chapter. I've been so busy with work! In the past two weeks, I have been to Seattle, Spokane, Butte, Bozeman, Rock Springs, and soon to be Steamboat Springs. A lot of days have been spent sleeping in the truck or at a cheap AirBnB if available. I even wrote half of this chapter a week ago while in a horse stall that was vacant that I could sleep in during a layover. Lol I'm currently publishing this chapter from Wyoming at some cheap AirBnB that's in the middle of nowhere before I head back to Colorado in the morning. I'm hoping to update again soon. But either way, I hope you all enjoy!
*
Once the ceremony had concluded, Simon had helped eased Kiera into the passenger seat of his car, eager to get her home and enjoy the rest of the evening within the presence of each other before they departed the next morning for the first destination to mark their honeymoon - to which Simon still did not tell her what he had planned. With assurance that Jacob and Evie were taken care of and secured into Eva's vehicle, Simon waited until Eva had driven in front of them on the way back to the ranch.
"That ring looks good on you, babe." Kiera giggled from the passenger seat, blushing as she physically witnessed Simon's pupils dilate to a thicker diameter once he held his gaze on her, his lips curling into a smirk.
"Not used to wearing rings, but I'll gladly get used to this one," He chuckled, his right hand reaching for her left, bringing her knuckles up to his lips, pressing a soft kiss there. "Didn't think that ring could look more perfect dressed on that pretty finger, love."
"I still can't believe we just got married," She sighed. "We've waited so long for this and now that it's finally happened... I can't wrap my head around it."
"Me either, but I'm glad it did," He smirked. "As much as I dread leaving our children behind for our honeymoon, I think it'll be a relief for you to have some time away."
"It will, but I'm going to miss my babies so much," She frowned. "Mom said she's going to send us constant pictures and videos while we're gone."
"I'm sure, love," He assured her. "I can't wait to see your reaction once you figure out where we're going."
"Well, where are we going?"
"That's a surprise. But I will say I accidentally fucked up the flight..."
"What do you mean?" She arched her brow.
"Well, our first flight was supposed to go towards the east coast, but I somehow scheduled it for Nevada..."
"You're confusing me, Simon."
He smirked, "Let's just say we'll be spending a couple of days in a certain town in southern Nevada first..."
He watched her jaw drop, "Babe, are we... Going to Las Vegas?"
"Possibly," He smirked. "Just know that I can't afford to be losing my new wife in Sin City. I babysit Johnny enough."
She giggled, "You can't babysit me if you can't find me..."
He arched his brow and she giggled, "Trying to make my blood pressure rise already?"
"Oh, I'm sure you already are getting a rise out of this evening. If you know what I mean..."
"Don't start anything you can't finish, love."
"Who said I didn't want it to finish?"
She smirked as she watched his face flush before he moved to adjust himself behind the steering wheel, clearly desperately trying to hide his pending erection, his mind briefly short-circuiting as he had hoped they were nearly home. Sighing, he gripped the steering wheel tightly before reaching for her hand, hoping to distract himself from intimate thoughts until he were to get home.
*
Without giving her any notice, Simon hastily swept Kiera off of her feet before he began to carry her towards the house, the train of her dress waving in the night air as Kiera giggled into his neck, placing short and teasing kisses along his hot and aroused skin. "All bloody mine," He grumbled. "You got that?"
"Roger that, Lieutenant."
He huffed in frustration, closing the door with his foot before rushing himself and his new bride into their bedroom, easily laying her on the bed and gently resting himself between her thighs, caging her between his arms and capturing her lips with his. "Simon." She moaned into his mouth, her core flexing in arousal.
"What is it, love?"
"I can't believe this - us. We're finally married."
"Good thought, yeah? Let's make this ceremony official."
She groaned at his words, running her hands through his neat hair only to ruin it, leaving the residue from his hair gel on her fingers. His hands had slowly began to run up her smooth legs, smirking against her lips when he realized she had been wearing a garter around her thigh after the pads of his fingers swept across it. "What's the order of this thing?" He questioned.
He knew.
He knew what it was for and the tradition behind it, but he wanted to hear her say it as well as add his own twist to it.
"Oh, you know, typical bride attire," She giggled. "Tradition."
"Is that right?"
"Mhm. Don't they have that in Manchester?"
He shrugged playfully, "Don't know. Never been married before. Might have to fill me in on this so-called tradition."
"I'm sure you can figure it out, babe."
"Oh, so you're not going to tell me?"
"Well, we kinda broke the tradition a little bit..."
"We've broken several, love."
She giggled, "Well, you know how I tossed my bouquet during the reception and you refused to take my garter off from under my gown-"
"Because I'm selfish and didn't want anyone to see your legs? Yes." He replied proudly, the pads of his fingers tracing over the garter slowly.
"You were supposed to take it off from under my gown and toss it to your groomsmen and whoever caught it was supposed to be getting married next-"
"Well," He scoffed, placing a kiss to her collarbone. "We agreed to make our own traditions. I think I know what I want to do with it."
"Hm? What's that?" She hummed.
"I think I'd want to rip this off of you with my bloody teeth and display you as my trophy," He didn't give her a chance to reply before he placed a kiss to her lips and lowered his body to where his head was under her gown, placing slow and delicate kisses from the inside of her knee and thigh until his lips fell onto the garter itself, gently grasping it with his teeth before he began to drag it from her thigh, smirking against her skin every time he heard a pretty whimper leave her lips. "And when I do that, nobody's eyes except my own get to lay on you."
"I'm all yours, Simon."
"I like hearing you say it." He murmured, proceeding to remove the garter with his teeth and slide it over his wrist before his mouth returned to her inner thighs, proceeding to move upwards under her gown before his lips landed on her sweet core, his hands resting above her gown to run his fingers along the lace fabric. All fucking mine.
Her fingers were desperate to latch into his hair while her soft moans filled the quiet bedroom. She couldn't get enough of the image of him in his suit all for her.
Simon's hands splayed across the outside of her thighs, holding them firmly against either side of his head while his tongue lapped through her folds, nearly making her jolt every time he crossed her clit with every slow and determined minute.
Eventually, she had climaxed on his encouraging tongue, rewarding him for his efforts before he sat up on his knees, looking down at the overstimulated mess of his new bride, smirking at how flushed she already was. He sat back on his knees, admiring the way her dress bunched up at her waist and how her skin flushed, leaving red blotches of adrenaline dressing her chest and cheeks. Smirking, he moved to where he was standing on his feet, walking over to the nightstand to retrieve a condom from the drawer, setting it on top of the nightstand before he removed his dress shirt, tossing it to the side as Kiera moved to sit on her knees on the bed, her perfectly manicured nails curling around the belt of his trousers, her lips pressed against his muscled abdomen while her fingers slowly unbuckled his belt.
She pumped his erection slowly with one hand, her thumb swiping the small bead of arousal that pooled at his aching head, swearing to herself that she could feel his pulse through his shaft. "On your back, babe." She whispered.
"Dominant lass, yeah?" He smirked, looking down to admire the doe-like gloss in her eyes.
"Don't make me ask again."
He couldn't help but smirk at her demand, sincerely loving when she'd get intimately aggressive with him, Kiera being the only person he'd consider being submissive for. He didn't know why, but he loved being bossed around by her - it unlocked a new excitement he never knew he had. "What happens if you do?"
"Then I guess I'll just satisfy myself." She hummed.
"Is that right?" He arched his brow, curling his index finger under her chin, forcing her head upward to look up at him. "Those toys of yours don't have the same affect, love."
"Making yourself feel better, huh?" She giggled, knowing she was pushing his buttons. "On your back."
"I don't much like being told what to do-"
"Oh, I know, Lieutenant," She hummed, placing a kiss to his chest. "But you're a long way from the barracks, babe. Need I remind you that I technically outranked you if you want to start using terms."
He inhaled sharply, his chest rising and a tingle traveling through his body, although he still didn't budge. I want to see if she really could make me, but bloody hell, those eyes she's giving me makes me want to fall to my knees and do anything she asked...
"That's what I thought," She giggled after hearing no response from him. "On your back."
He couldn't help but do as he was told - Kiera being the only person to be able to dominate him. If he were honest, he quite liked being submissive - having her on top of him to her mercy and using him as she pleased.
He loved it.
Especially in her wedding dress - the sight alone drove him wild.
Her dress splayed over him as she straddled his hips, subtly rolling her own hips to grind against his erection. He couldn't help but grasp the fabric of her dress in his hands during his desperate attempt to grasp her hips, leaning his head back against the pillow when he felt himself succumb to her hot core.
They groaned in unison as his hands firmly held her hips while she slowly slid down on his length, eventually able to fully sheath himself inside of her.
In roughly three months, the couple had lain together once due to the unfortunate events of the miscarriage in July followed by her father's passing.
And during that one time, he had begun to use a condom to prevent another pregnancy knowing she had wished to wean from birth control and that he didn't want her to go through another miscarriage.
It was a decision made by him to use a condom for her sake, knowing the effect hurt her more than it did him.
He knew she had been mentally exhausted - the last thing he wanted for her was to feel like she had an obligation to please him sexually.
After all, he could care less if she had told him she'd never want to have sex again, knowing that the miscarriage alone was enough to frighten her about the idea of ever getting pregnant again.
"Fuck!" She hissed, briefly uncomfortable due to the sudden stretch, keeping herself still on him to let her body adjust to his size.
"Are you alright, love?"
"Yeah," She nodded, splaying her palms across his chest. "Been too long for us." She admitted, blush staining her cheeks.
"I'll wait as long as you want me to." He assured her, his hands finally finding the skin of her hips under her dress, gently rubbing circles along her skin with his thumbs.
Her hips rolled against him, Simon unable to restrict his hips naturally wanting to buck up into her, but he knew she had things in her control when he was under her, completely surrendering himself to her.
Already overstimulated from his tongue, she had heard herself squelching against him between moans. It was addicting for the pair of them. "You feel so good, love," He admitted, his voice gruff and smooth. "You were bloody made for me."
She hummed in agreement, leaning her head back to enjoy the sensation he was giving her with just his length alone - his touches and words nearly driving her over the edge every time she felt his skin on hers.
Suddenly, his forearms hooked under her thighs, effortlessly picking her up off of his length and curling his arms to where her core was level with his face. She braced her hands on the headboard in front of her, tightening her abdomen to keep her full weight from landing on his head. "Simon, I-"
"Don't hold yourself," He warned, his hot breath fanning against her wet folds and making her shiver against him, gasping when she felt his arms tighten around her thighs and pulling her weight down onto his face. "Sit."
"But I don't want to hurt-"
"-Sit," He said sternly. She was unable to see his threatening gaze by how her dress had spread over his head when he moved her, but she knew that look. "Like a bloody chair."
"But what if I suffocate you-"
His arms tightened around her thighs and pulled her down onto him, the tip of his nose pressing firmly against her clit, giving her the perfect stimulation while his tongue began to work against her folds, eager to bring her to a second orgasm. He loved when he would bury himself inside of her, but something about pleasing her with his mouth drove him crazy. Like a drug, he would think, musing about how intoxicating her taste was to him.
He rewarded her with a quickened pace of his tongue when he felt her relax, knowing that gravity was in her favor when she finally realized just how good it felt. And to Simon, the thought made him harder than what he already was - almost painful.
But he couldn't let up anytime soon.
She tasted too good.
Her moans gradually grew louder and louder, her stomach tightening at the sensation of his skilled tongue, goosebumps erecting along her skin when she felt his hands leave her thighs and slide up her back, slowly and delicately unclasping each button that held her dress together, keeping her nude body from him. He knew that if he didn't get that divine dress off of her soon, he'd accidentally end up ruining it.
Sensing that she was on the brink of her second orgasm, he couldn't help but smirk when he heard a desperate whine leave her lips, knowing it was a punishment for even saying that her toys could get her off faster than he could in a sorry attempt to get him to submit.
With the dress now draping from her shoulders and exposing her breasts, he curled his arms around her waist and gently guided her to lay on her back, placing a hot kiss to her vulva before he guided her to lift her hips to slide the dress from her body, leaving her to be completely nude under him. His hair was now a mess and his chin was glistening with her excitement. Licking his lips clean, he then moved to make a trail of kisses from her hip all the way to her sternum, shooting a quick glance to her before he gave attention to her breasts, expecting her to deny access to them as she was still breastfeeding. Unbeknownst to her, Simon knew that even caressing her nipples were more stimulating than before she was ever pregnant.
Judging by her sudden moan after he did it, he assumed that she had finally realized.
Especially when she arched her back to press her breasts even closer to his mouth, begging for more than just his hands. "Eager, are we?"
"You're just teasing me at this point." She giggled playfully.
"It's what you get for teasing me with the thought of you playing with yourself earlier," He answered, sitting back on his calves to reach for the condom on the nightstand, pinching the corner of the wrapper between his teeth before she stopped him.
"You won't need that, babe," She spoke, her foot coming up to rest on his hip. "I want to try again."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded, "Positive."
He wanted to ask her what was going through her mind for her to compile her decision, but he didn't want her to think about the reason as to why he had begun wearing condoms in the first place since the miscarriage. "I know we haven't really talked about it prior to the wedding, but-"
"-I love having children with you," He assured her. "I want another one."
She smiled, "You do? I thought two plus Baler was enough for you."
"The lad is almost an adult and our two are now a year old. I can't lie to you: I loved seeing you waddle around like a penguin with your belly."
She laughed as his hands ran up and down her smooth calves, slowly tracing his fingertips to her hot folds, excited at the primal thought of getting her pregnant again, except this time, they were actually trying.
"Best get to it then, babe." She smiled, opening her legs for him when she felt his body lower onto her, their lips locking as his hips lazily pumped against her, teasing her yet again before he snuck his free hand to guide himself into her, the sensation driving him over the edge with her immense warmth and tightness.
They lay in sensual lust - his hips guiding himself slowly into her as he savored every thrust while she purposely squeezed her walls around him every time he withdrew his hips. His lips were pressed against her neck and jaw while her nails dug into his back, leaving small scratches behind only to encourage another hard thrust from him. "You're so deep," She groaned.
"I can go deeper," He whispered into her neck.
"H-How?" She asked, surprised.
He smirked against her jaw before slowly withdrawing from her, "Turn over," He directed, grasping the nearby pillow to place under her abdomen, arching her hips perfectly for the deep angle he was about to let her experience, giving him an unrelenting pace into her G-Spot once he began to thrust. "There you go. Press your thighs together and cross your ankles," He continued, now standing at the edge of the bed, pumping himself lazily as she did as she was told. "I can't lie and say I won't hold myself back from getting rough," He admitted shyly, his head now at her even tighter entrance. "You grip me even tighter like this."
She began to reply before her mouth opened to a gasp, the hot stretch of his length entering her and pressing against her G-Spot once he fully sheathed himself. "Please get rough, Simon."
He groaned at her plea, hoping that she knew just how rough he could get. Pressing his palm between her shoulder blades, he did as she requested.
Relentless, powerful thrusts of his hips snapping into her at a set pace. Each thrust rubbing against her G-Spot, making her toes curl and her back shiver while the pillow under her head collected her loud moans.
Skin-to-skin contact filled the room along with their moans of pleasure. "Harder." She begged.
"Are you sure, love?" He whispered, keeping up his pace. "I don't want to hurt you-"
"Harder, Simon," She moaned. "I want you to."
Bracing one arm next to her head and the other palm between her shoulder blades, his thrusts grew harder and harder, the headboard of the bed now colliding with the wall as the squelching from her core swallowing him drove him wild. He curled his hips downwards every time they snapped, jolting every time he felt the sponge-like flesh of her G-Spot against him.
Several minutes later, he stilled to release his spend into her, pumping slowly until he too became overstimulated, only keeping up his pace to bring her to her second orgasm before he did.
With deep breaths, he rewarded her with kisses along the column of her back, slowly withdrawing himself before he helped her move to a comfortable position, smirking at how her mascara pooled at the corners of her eyes before bringing his thumb up to wipe the marks away.

How Much is Rent in Colorado?
If jaw-dropping mountain views, endless miles of hiking trails, and a vibrant craft beer scene sound tempting to you, then Colorado is a place on your bucket list, and you are probably asking: How much is rent in Colorado? So, before you pack your bags for weekend ski trips, let us look at what you can expect in the state's rental market.
Colorado’s Rental Market: A Rollercoaster of Prices
In the last few years, rental prices in Colorado have had an extreme fluctuation. With the increase in demand, strong job markets, and high-quality living standards, cities such as Denver and Boulder have seen skyrocketing rents. Yet some other cities such as Colorado Springs and Fort Collins offer more affordable rental options, giving a chance to so many different renters in the state.
Rent Prices Across Colorado: A City-by-City Breakdown
The prices of rental homes differ from place to place. Anyone who is in a city doesn’t need to pay a fortune for housing.
Denver: The highest rents in Colorado are found in its capital and largest city, Denver. A one-bedroom apartment will cost roughly $1,900 monthly, resulting from job growth and a busy downtown.
Boulder: Including a solid tech industry and the presence of the University of Colorado, Boulder rental prices are even steeper, running an average of $2,200 for a one-bedroom apartment.
Colorado Springs: Breathtaking views of the mountain and a strong military presence characterize this city, which is somewhat cheaper in rental property prices; one-bedroom rentals go for around $1,600 monthly.
Fort Collins: Fort Collins, located at the edge of the Rocky Mountains, acts as home to the University of Colorado State and might be regarded rather similar to Colorado Springs if it were compared for rental prices.
Pueblo & Grand Junction Sometimes what is on the lower rent side might be city dwelling with fewer overheads that can feed the costs of maintenance budgets of the rent.
Why Are Rent Prices So High in Colorado?
No, these are not reasons for the increasing costs of rental in Colorado. That is accompanied by factors such as population expansion, limited availability of housing, and a booming economy, which has added to the existing high rents of states. As usual, Colorado has been speeding up its pace as one of the fastest-growing states in the U.S., enticing new blood into opportunities in technology, health care, and tourism. But it is not a case of adding value for money in developing new houses that go along with that. Subsequently, it would be more competitive among renters in the towns of Denver and Boulder.
In addition, remote work is one of the factors attracting digital nomads and out-of-state transplants to Colorado. As more working professionals are going to different scenic locations, rents for prime areas have been kept strong even when the national housing market finds itself in transition.
Additional Costs to Consider
Rent constitutes just one part of the cost of living for Colorado residents. There are also a few additional considerations for renters that they will need to take into account while budgeting.
Utilities: Expect to pay between $150 and $200 per month, depending on the season and apartment size.
Internet: Monthly costs typically range from $50 to $100.
Transportation: It is interesting that, unlike most of the people in Colorado, even though Denver and Boulder public transit offer available rides, many tend to prefer using personal vehicles. Mountain towns add interesting costs; first, you must have winter tires, and then you want to consider the gas prices, which always change.
Groceries & Entertainment: Costs vary by city, with larger metros like Denver having higher prices compared to smaller towns.
Is Renting in Colorado Worth It?
While the costs continue to increase, Colorado remains one of the most ideal places to live- a perfect mix of career and outdoor adventure. Affordability is, however, a critical factor in deciding if renting is the right choice for you in Colorado. For example, if Denver or Boulder is expensive to consider, look at suburbs and smaller cities where you can save lots but still have relative convenience.
To make renting in Colorado more budget-friendly, consider:
Researched neighborhoods to find affordable yet convenient locations.
Negotiating your lease to secure better rental terms.
Exploring alternative housing options, such as shared living arrangements.
Timing your move during off-seasons like winter when rental demand is lower.
For those seeking luxury, Aspen offers high-end rentals with breathtaking mountain views, blending exclusivity with Colorado’s natural beauty.
How Much is Rent in Colorado? This question depends on where you want to live, your lifestyle choices, and your budget. From the electric vibes of city life in Denver and the techy moods of Boulder to the affordability and charm of Colorado Springs, there lies an apartment somewhere fitting your needs. If you plan your activities accordingly, it is going to be easier for you to find that ideal place to call home in the Centennial State.
Is Colorado calling your name? There lies the adventure and the search for rental homes!

Spoiler Alert: It’s Weird, Wild, and 100% Worth It
Joshua Tree National Park is one of those places that makes you feel like you've landed on another planet—except it’s right here in California. At House of Highways, we believe every road trip should be epic. Whether you're rolling in with a luxury motorhome or a rugged off-grid setup, Joshua Tree delivers.
Why Joshua Tree?
This place is a mix of rugged and magical—exactly the kind of spot we love. Here’s why:
Mind-Blowing Landscapes – Every turn reveals massive rock piles, desert panoramas, and Joshua trees doing their best interpretive dance moves.
Unreal Night Skies – As an International Dark Sky Park, Joshua Tree is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. No city lights, just galaxies above.
Something for Every RVer – Whether you're looking for full-hookup campgrounds or boondocking on BLM land, Joshua Tree has a spot for you.
Pro Tip: The park straddles two deserts—the Mojave and the Colorado—so depending on where you are, the landscape changes drastically. Plan to explore both sides.
Essential Guidelines For RV Camping In Joshua Tree
Before you hit the road, here are some important recommendations for making the most of your adventure.
Plan Like a Pro
Joshua Tree isn’t the place to "just wing it." There’s no gas, no restaurants, and no cell service in most areas.
Fill up on gas before arriving.
Bring extra water—this is the desert, after all.
Download offline maps because Google won’t be there to guide you.
Pick the Right Season
Best time to visit? Spring and fall—cooler temps, fewer crowds.
Worst time? Mid-summer—unless you want to feel like a baked potato at 110°F. (We may or may not have done this)
Boondocking Tips: If you want solitude, consider boondocking on adjacent BLM land. It’s an affordable RV camping option for individuals who enjoy off-grid adventures.
Family And Pet-Friendly: Joshua Tree is ideal for family RV parks and pet-friendly travels, so don’t leave your furry buddies behind!
Pro Tip: Campgrounds fill up fast, especially in peak season. Book early or risk a last-minute scramble for a spot.
Ultimate One-Day Itinerary
Only have one day in Joshua Tree? Here’s how to make the most of it:
Hike Hidden Valley Trail – A quick one-mile loop that takes you through a stunning rock canyon.
Drive to Keys View – The best scenic overlook in the park. On a clear day, you can see Mexico.
Lunch at Cap Rock – A perfect picnic stop with massive boulders and a short nature walk.
Catch Sunset at Arch Rock – A Joshua Tree classic, perfect for golden-hour photos.

Hey guys! Unsure where to do this as Facebook is kinda failing me right now, but!
Do you want to live in Colorado but have grown to super super not like Denver because of many reasons, especially the cost of living? Boy, me too!
I'm looking for someone/multiple someone's, to get a house in Fort Collins! I grew up in Foco, and I can't recommend it more! It's always been very queer friendly, and has especially grown over the years.
The budgets up there for rental properties are super reasonable, especially if we can find 3 people (including myself) who can afford 1k in rent each. I'm comfortable paying that + utilities! Here's some things about me, along with living preferences:
‼️ LGBTQIA+ friendly a must, especially the T‼️
I am 26, Transmasculine, fully vaccinated (and ask you are too) and use they/he pronouns! I love writing, reading, music/dance, and a bunch of other creative things including cosplay and drag. I consider myself a pretty quiet person, I do enjoy an occasional party, but overall enjoy staying low-key and playing video games or watching shows.
When it comes to living situations, I do work from home and need a space outside of my room for my work desk, however, I am absolutely fine with this being in a shared space as long as we're all respectful of each other's things :)
I am allergic to cats unfortunately, and would ultimately prefer not to live with one as it affects my breathing, however if you keep up with the cleanliness of the cat (litter, brushing, etc) and we have air filters, it can be doable. I'm down for dogs and other creatures, though! I'm also allergic to weed smoke, but edibles/having it be not in shared spaces is totally okay!
My biggest thing is that I do not want to live with cis men, and do not want cismen I/we do not know frequently over due to safety (as transphobia has been on the rise, especially now). No hate against anyone, it's purely for my own comfortability!
I'm looking to move out of my current space late spring to summer, so we can have time to get to know one another and see if we'd get along with everyone interested. Ultimately I'd prefer to limit the amount of people in the house to 4 in total.
I'm also willing to potentially move out of state if anyone is interested in collaborating, OR if you don't live in Colorado but want to, let's chat!
Thanks!!

Exploring Salida on a Budget - Why a Hostel Stay is the Perfect Choice
Tucked away in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Salida, Colorado, is a paradise for adventure seekers and nature lovers. From hiking and mountain biking to river rafting and skiing, this charming town offers endless outdoor activities. But traveling to such a beautiful destination doesn’t have to be expensive. If you're looking for an affordable yet comfortable place to stay, a hostel in Salida is the perfect choice.
Whether you're a solo traveler, a backpacker, or someone who simply loves budget-friendly travel, staying in a hostel lets you experience the best of Salida without overspending. Here’s why a hostel stay should be at the top of your list.
Save Money Without Sacrificing Comfort
One of the biggest advantages of staying in a hostel is the affordability. Hotels and vacation rentals in Salida can be costly, especially during peak seasons. Hostels offer budget-friendly options, such as shared dormitories or private rooms, at a fraction of the price of hotels. Even though hostels are cheaper, they don’t compromise on comfort. Many hostels in Salida provide cozy beds, clean facilities, and essential amenities like hot showers, WiFi, and laundry services. Some even have communal kitchens, allowing you to cook your own meals and save money on dining out.
A Social and Welcoming Atmosphere
Traveling alone or looking to meet new people? Hostels are incredibly social and offer a friendly atmosphere where travelers can connect. Unlike hotels, where guests tend to keep to themselves, hostels encourage interaction through common areas, group activities, and shared experiences. Many hostels in Salida have lounges, outdoor spaces, and community events where you can chat with fellow adventurers, swap travel stories, or even find a hiking buddy. This sense of community makes a hostel stay a fun and enriching experience.
Prime Location for Outdoor Adventures
Most hostels in Salida are strategically located near the best outdoor attractions, making them the perfect base for exploring the area. Whether you want to hike in the Sawatch Range, bike the Monarch Crest Trail, or raft down the Arkansas River, you’ll find a hostel that puts you close to nature and adventure. In winter, hostels provide easy access to Monarch Mountain, a fantastic ski destination. Instead of paying for an expensive ski resort stay, you can save money by booking a hostel while still enjoying top-tier slopes and winter sports.
Unique and Cozy Accommodations
Forget the generic hotel experience—hostels in Salida often have charming, rustic, and unique interiors that reflect the town’s mountain culture. Many hostels are housed in historic buildings or lodges, adding character to your stay. You’ll find cozy wooden furnishings, warm fireplaces, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
Free and Affordable Activities
Staying in a hostel gives you access to tons of free or low-cost activities. Many hostels organize group hikes, yoga sessions, bonfires, or local tours, making it easy to experience Salida without spending a fortune. Some budget-friendly things to do in Salida include:
Hiking: Explore the free hiking trails around Salida, such as Spiral Drive or Bear Creek Trail.
Strolling through Historic Downtown: Walk through Salida’s downtown area, filled with art galleries, local shops, and historic buildings.
Relaxing by the Arkansas River: Enjoy a peaceful afternoon at Riverside Park, where you can watch kayakers, have a picnic, or simply take in the scenic views.
Hot Springs: While some hot springs charge an entrance fee, others like Cottonwood Hot Springs offer budget-friendly soaking options.
A Great Option for Solo Travelers and Groups
Hostels are ideal for solo travelers looking for company or groups wanting an affordable stay. If you’re traveling alone, you won’t feel isolated in a hostel since there’s always someone to chat with. If you’re with a group, you can save even more money by booking an entire dorm room for your friends.
Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Travel
Many hostels in Salida focus on eco-friendly practices, such as recycling programs, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable tourism efforts. If you care about traveling responsibly, choosing a hostel over a large hotel is a great way to reduce your environmental impact.
Conclusion
If you're looking for an affordable, fun, and adventure-filled stay in Salida, a hostel is the perfect choice. With budget-friendly prices, a social atmosphere, and an unbeatable location, hostels allow you to explore this stunning mountain town without worrying about your wallet. Whether you're hitting the trails, enjoying the river, or simply relaxing in a charming mountain town, a hostel stay will enhance your experience while keeping your trip affordable. So why not skip the pricey hotels and embrace the hostel life on your next visit to Salida?

From understanding the local market to preparing your home for sale, every detail matters when you're aiming for a quick transaction.
Understanding the Grand Junction Real Estate Market
Before diving into the selling process, it's crucial to understand the local real estate market. Grand Junction, located in the heart of Colorado’s Western Slope, has a dynamic property market influenced by several factors:
Market Trends
Current Demand: Grand Junction has seen steady growth in real estate demand, partly due to its attractive lifestyle and affordable housing compared to larger cities in Colorado. This trend can work in your favor if you position your home correctly.
Seasonal Variations: Real estate activity can vary by season. Typically, spring and summer are more active periods, with buyers more willing to make a move. However, the winter market can also offer opportunities, especially if you market your home effectively.
Property Types: The demand for different property types—single-family homes, condos, or investment properties—can vary. Understanding what type of property is currently in demand can help you position your home better.
Price Points: Homes in Grand Junction can range widely in price. Analyzing recent sales of comparable properties (comps) will give you a good sense of where your home fits into the market.
Preparing Your Home for a Quick Sale
To Sell Your House Fast Colorado, you need to make it as appealing as possible to prospective buyers. Here’s a step-by-step guide to getting your home ready:
1. Declutter and Depersonalize
Declutter: Remove excess items from your home. A clutter-free space helps potential buyers envision themselves living there.
Depersonalize: Take down family photos and personal items. This allows buyers to imagine the space as their own.
2. Enhance Curb Appeal
Landscaping: Tidy up the garden, mow the lawn, and consider planting colorful flowers. The exterior of your home is the first thing buyers see.
Repairs and Touch-ups: Fix any obvious issues such as chipped paint, broken shutters, or cracked walkways. A well-maintained exterior sets a positive tone.
3. Make Minor Repairs
Fix Leaks and Squeaks: Address any plumbing issues or squeaky doors. These small repairs can make a significant difference in how buyers perceive the property.
Update Fixtures: Replace outdated light fixtures or hardware to give your home a more modern feel.
4. Stage Your Home
Furniture Arrangement: Arrange furniture to showcase the space and functionality of each room. Consider hiring a professional stager if you're unsure how to proceed.
Clean Thoroughly: Ensure every part of your home is spotless, from floors and carpets to windows and countertops. A clean home feels more inviting.
Pricing Your Home Competitively
Setting the right price is crucial for a quick sale. Here’s how to price your home effectively:
1. Conduct a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA)
Analyze Comps: Look at recent sales of similar homes in your area. This will give you a benchmark for pricing your property.
Consider Adjustments: Adjust the price based on your home’s condition, upgrades, and location.
2. Consult a Real Estate Agent
Professional Insight: A local real estate agent can provide valuable insights into the market and help you set a competitive price.
Market Knowledge: Agents have access to the latest market data and can offer guidance on pricing strategies.
3. Evaluate Your Urgency
Motivation: If you need to sell quickly, you might need to price your home slightly below market value to attract more buyers.
Flexibility: Be open to negotiations. A flexible approach can help you close the deal faster.
Marketing Your Home
Effective marketing can make all the difference in selling your home quickly. Here’s how to get the word out:
1. Online Listings
Real Estate Websites: List your property on popular real estate websites like Zillow, Realtor, and Redfin. Ensure your listing includes high-quality photos and a compelling description.
Social Media: Use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to reach a broader audience. Share posts about your home and consider targeted ads.
2. Professional Photography
High-Quality Images: Invest in professional photography to capture your home in the best light. Good photos can significantly impact buyers' interest.
Virtual Tours: Consider offering a virtual tour of your home. This can attract remote buyers and those who prefer to view properties online.
3. Traditional Marketing
Open Houses: Host open houses to allow potential buyers to view your home in person. Ensure the home is well-prepared and welcoming during these events.
Flyers and Brochures: Distribute flyers and brochures in your neighborhood and local community centers. Include key details and appealing photos.
Working with a Real Estate Agent
A real estate agent can be a valuable ally in selling your home quickly. Here’s how to make the most of working with an agent:
1. Choose the Right Agent
Local Expertise: Look for an agent with experience in the Grand Junction market. They will have a better understanding of local trends and buyer preferences.
Track Record: Review the agent’s track record for selling homes quickly and at good prices.
2. Communicate Clearly
Goals: Share your goal of selling quickly with your agent. They can adjust their strategies to meet your needs.
Feedback: Provide feedback on showings and marketing efforts to help your agent refine their approach.
3. Leverage Their Network
Connections: Agents often have a network of potential buyers and other real estate professionals. They can leverage these connections to find buyers faster.
Negotiating and Closing the Sale
Once you receive offers, negotiating and closing the sale are the final steps. Here’s how to navigate this process:
1. Review Offers Carefully
Offer Terms: Evaluate not just the offer price but also the terms, including contingencies and closing dates. A higher offer might not always be the best if the terms are less favorable.
Counteroffers: Be prepared to make counteroffers and negotiate terms to reach an agreement that works for both parties.
2. Prepare for Closing
Documentation: Ensure all necessary documents are in order, including the property title, inspection reports, and any disclosures.
Inspection and Appraisal: Be ready for a home inspection and appraisal, which are common steps in the closing process. Address any issues that arise promptly.
3. Work with a Closing Agent
Title Company: A title company or closing agent will handle the paperwork and ensure the transaction is completed smoothly.
Final Walk-Through: Conduct a final walk-through of the property with the buyer to ensure everything is in order before closing.

End the Night at Skull Rock – Stick around for stargazing and watch the desert sky come to life.
Pro Tip: This park gets dark—like really dark. Bring a headlamp if you’re out past sunset.

Historic Downtown: Known for its vibrant atmosphere and proximity to amenities.
Three Springs: A modern community with new homes and great facilities.
Animas Valley: Offers scenic views and a suburban feel.
Preparing to Buy
Setting a Budget
Determining your budget is the first step in the home-buying process. Consider your income, expenses, and how much you can afford for a down payment. Using online mortgage calculators can help you estimate your budget and monthly payments.
Getting Pre-Approved for a Mortgage
A mortgage pre-approval shows sellers that you are a serious buyer and gives you a clear idea of your borrowing capacity. To get pre-approved, you must provide financial documents to your lender, such as pay stubs, tax returns, and bank statements.
Saving for a Down Payment
Aim to save at least 20% of the home's purchase price for a down payment. This can help you avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI) and reduce monthly mortgage payments. Consider setting up a dedicated savings account and automating regular deposits to build your down payment fund.
